Solar Leadership

We can make Arizona the solar capital of America

Generating solar energy may sound like something new, but for nearly 60 years, APS has been finding ways to harness the power of the sun to help meet Arizona’s energy needs. Today, that steadfast commitment to innovation and renewable energy is helping Arizona lead the nation in solar power per resident.

With as much sunshine as we enjoy in Arizona, we believe solar power can and should have a bright, long future in our state. APS is spending $1 billion on solar projects statewide. By the end of 2013, APS will have enough solar capacity to power more than 185,000 homes.

Going solar doesn't mean going off the grid

Today’s rooftop solar customers depend on a reliable electricity grid 24 hours a day to help ensure they have the power they need whenever they need it. As more people install solar on their homes, it becomes more important that everyone who uses the grid helps cover the cost of keeping it operating.
