As of this week, new solar power is energizing customers from the classroom, to the lap pool to the grocery aisle. Solar can now be spotted powering Yuma High Schools, a Fry’s Food Store and a Sun City recreation center.
More than 300 schools in Arizona are participating in APS programs designed to help schools go solar. Solar installations save schools money and help introduce the topic of renewable energy into the classroom.
In just five years, APS and Arizona schools have reached a major milestone: more than100 megawatts of clean, solar energy have been installed or are under construction on more than 300 schools and 70 participating school districts across the state.
