As State’s Solar Use Grows, Electric-Grid Access Must Be Fair

The Arizona Republic today published a My Turn column from APS Chairman and CEO Don Brandt on the recent APS proposal to update the net metering policy so that “future customers who choose roof-top solar get compensated at a fair rate for the power they generate and also pay a fair price for their use of the grid.”

The column covers how rooftop solar customers still depend on the grid, and provides detail on the net metering and bill credit options offered in the proposal, the grandfathering plan and APS’s support of increasing the cash incentive for future customers who want the choice of rooftop solar.

“Our plan is a fair approach that allows solar to flourish for all people in Arizona over the long term and protects the reliable electrical service we all use every day.”
