New solar installations come on line from Yuma to Phoenix

November 08, 2013

As of this week, new solar power is energizing customers from the classroom, to the lap pool to the grocery aisle. Solar can now be spotted powering Yuma High Schools, a Fry’s Food Store and a Sun City recreation center.

Three different high schools within the Yuma Union High School District celebrated new installations on Monday: Kofa High School, Yuma High School and Vista Alternative High School. All three installed the solar through APS’s Solar for Schools Program.

On Thursday, Fry’s officially flipped the switch to the solar installation at their store on Bell Road just west of 27th Avenue which will also provide their shoppers with plenty of parking shade.

Also on Thursday, Recreation Centers of Sun City, Inc. celebrated an installation on their Bell Recreation Center.

APS is proud to have partnered with these different organizations to provide clean energy and shade to Arizonans as they shop, exercise and learn.
