The topic of net metering is gaining momentum nationally, as other utilities consider the fairness of their net metering policies. The net metering fairness issue is featured this morning in a Wall Street Journal article titled, “Utilities Want Solar Customers to Pay More.”
The article includes thoughts from Matthew Freedman, a lawyer with consumer group the Utility Reform Network:
“If you move from a few customers having solar to 10 percent or 20 percent, you can’t sustain that within the current tariffs… There will be sizable cost shifts, and then you’re dealing with a situation where you have the haves and the have-nots.”
