APS Solar Partner Program

Simple, easy solar option for customers

Here in Arizona, the demand for rooftop solar is at an all-time high. To meet this demand, APS launched a residential rooftop solar program that is designed as an easy option for our customers who want to go solar, but haven’t yet had the chance. (Note: The Solar Partner Program is currently full.)

The pilot program is a safe and reliable way to be a part of the next generation of Arizona’s energy future as we all work together to move toward cleaner, more sustainable energy.
About 1,600 customers across Arizona have added APS-owned rooftop solar to their homes and will receive a $30 credit each month through the life of the 20-year program. Participants pay no upfront fees or maintenance.

We are also using the Solar Partner Program to study technologies such as smart inverters and battery storage. The research will evaluate how to integrate solar onto the grid in areas with high penetrations of rooftop solar while maintaining reliability for customers. The information we gain from this study will influence how utilities across the country integrate renewable energy resources.

In the settlement agreement for our Rate Review, we agreed to invest $10 million to $15 million annually in an AZ Sun II rooftop solar program. Customers would receive a monthly credit to allow us to install rooftop solar systems on their homes. This innovative program, which must be approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission, would expand access to solar for limited- and moderate-income customers throughout the APS service territory.
