We need a sustainable model for both rooftop solar and the energy grid.
As customers rely on the grid differently, the pricing model needs to evolve to keep pace. States across America are grappling with this challenge, looking for solutions to enable innovations such as rooftop solar while preserving reliable electric service and basic fairness to all customers.
If you are off the grid, you shouldn’t pay for it, but customers who do rely on the grid should pay a fair price. The issue at hand is how to ensure all customers pay appropriately for this service while factoring in the actual savings that rooftop solar brings to the table – all while making sure not to overlook the harm inflicted on the 95 percent of our customers who do not have solar.
We will continue to advocate for solutions that will help us protect customers’ interests and maintain a long-term, sustainable solar policy for Arizona.
Our recently approved rate review will continue Arizona’s solar leadership by enabling the sustained growth of solar and other new customer technologies while protecting non-solar customers.
